Unlock the mastery of Beethoven! Victor Lederer, author of Beethoven's Chamber Music: A Listener's Guide, joins Robert Levine, series editor of Amadeus Press' Unlocking the Masters series to take you above and beyond the book to discuss how to become a lover of chamber music, Beethoven's humorous movements, and how Beethoven's experiences affected (or did not affect) his music.

Onstage and Backstage

About the Book
In Beethoven's Chamber Music: A Listener's Guide Lederer shows how Beethoven's sonatas for violin and piano overflow with high energy and spirits, showing a creative force that transcended personal struggles. The “Kreutzer” sonata, Op. 47, displays all the power of the master's middle period, while the G Major sonata, Op. 96, foreshadows Beethoven's mellower late works. The author also considers the sonatas for cello and piano, which span Beethoven's early, middle, and late periods, and examines the piano trios, including the immense “Archduke” trio. The book comes with a compact disc containing musical selections drawn from critically acclaimed performances on Naxos Records.

Hasta la vista, baby! Scott Von Doviak and Leonard Pierce discuss The Terminator franchise, its influences, James Cameron movies (like Alien), Arnold Schwarzenegger movies (like True Lies), RoboCop, what came after The Terminator (like Joss Whedon's Dollhouse), and lesser known gems any Terminator fan will love. If you like The Terminator, listen up!

Onstage and Backstage

About the Book
Here is the first book to explore the spectacular array of films, television shows, and other works that helped inspire The Terminator, as well as those that have drawn inspiration from it. If You Like The Terminator... delves into the history of science-fiction cinema, from its earliest days to the golden age of the 1950s and beyond, encountering killer robots, time travelers and postapocalyptic wastelands along the way. This turbo-charged journey through time also reviews the improbable career of Arnold Schwarzenegger, revisits the action heroes of the 1980s, and reevaluates the films of James Cameron, before touching down in the computer-dominated realm of today's science fiction cinema and projecting the future of the Terminator franchise.
