Aspiring R&B singers rejoice! Terri Brinegar, author of Vocal and Stage Essentials for the Aspiring Female R&B Singer (Hal Leonard Books, May 2012), sits down with R&B singer Joanna Cotten to chat about the music business.

Terri Brinegar graduated with a degree in classical voice from North Texas State University, and also attended the Juilliard School of Music in New York City. She is currently attending Middle Tennessee State University, pursuing her Master of Arts degree in jazz voice. She is a seasoned professional with years of stage experience in Los Angeles and Nashville, and also an accomplished songwriter with three CDs of original material to her credit, as well as a fourth CD of classical songs. Joanna Cotten is a "funkabilly" singer-songwriter. She attended Juilliard in New York and now lives in Nashville where she produces her own music of sultry slide guitar, the lonely moan of a blues harp, the righteous thump of a fatback bass, and the sticky soulful rhythm of a Beale Street backbeat.
